Four Common Male Infertility Myths
And Their Truths
It’s not my fault. There has to be
something wrong with my wife / partner!
Truth: Denial- get over yourself guys as
your partner is just as devastated! Infertility is no body’s fault but medically speaking the problems are
usually about half and half in general terms.
This is definitely all my fault
because if I’d worn boxer shorts instead of briefs my entire life we would surely have kids by
now.
Truth: For sure research shows that
excessively tight pants and heat can cause sperm count issues but it’s not likely to be the main cause of
your fertility problems. Don’t beat yourself up for your past; leave it where it belongs in the past and
start wearing boxers more often now.
Working for long hours with laptop on your
lap, can cause the sperm count to reduce significantly. This affects the quality of sperms too, since the radiation
from the computers (specially laptops kept on laps) causes lot of harm to sperms.
Cure : Try sitting in a cold tub of
water for few minutes a day.
I've been told that I’ve got a low
sperm count so I guess that’s it regarding us having kids.
Truth: Chances are that your GP will
find the cause of your low sperm count and if for example it’s a blockage or another condition that can be
treated; you can certainly go on to have children. There are also lots of low sperm count conditions that
respond to diet and lifestyle changes such as losing weight and quitting smoking as well as refraining from
alcohol. Don’t forget that just because your sperm count is low now it’s not a lifelong sentence! Get some
good advice and intervention treatment.
My partner and I can wait for a few
more years because my fertility isn’t going to change one bit as I age.
Truth: Sadly to inform you but after the
age of 35; male fertility begins to decline. It is usually quite a gradual process but infection hinders
sperm production and can certainly speed the downward spiral up a notch. You shouldn’t put off having kids
for too long
